Possible sick baby - effect on toddler? [Jan. 3rd, 2008|08:36 am]

Hey all,

I'm nursing my 3.5 month old and my 2.5 year old. Last night, my infant showed signs that she could possibly have diarrhea. Should i temporarily stop nursing my toddler if she's got the runs? I know that the answer to this is likely going to be self-evident, but i just wanted to check to make sure, because my son gets very (very!) sad (not to mention persistent) when told that he can't have any "boobie time".

Thanks!

I have nursed both of mine when the other is sick and haven't transmitted the illness to the other one yet. My oldest had Hand, Foot and Mouth and we still nursed. For that one I just cleaned off my nipples before I let the baby nurse. For other things like colds and stuff we just nursed like normal.
